The “Omega” pocket-watch clock

The “Omega” pocket-watch clock

I think that every collection needs a rogue – this is the rogue in my clock collection.

There was a ‘thing’, once people no longer used pocket watches, when some were re-purposed as little clocks by encasing the movement in a glass sphere. This one looks like one of those, but although the dial is marked with an Omega symbol and the word OMEGA, the movement is a cheap reproduction. The give-away is the word ‘Switzerland’, which has space between the ‘t’ and the ‘z’ – and the movement isn’t marked. It amuses me, though. I bought it at a local antiques fair. It runs, but I don’t keep it running because it would need a daily wind.
