This is my ‘best’ clock. I bought it new. I’d been looking for a nice, modern, high quality clock. I came across a Hermle catalogue and was so pleased. This has an 31-day ‘deadbeat’ movement, which is powered by a Tungsten-filled weight (Tungsten is far heavier than lead and is very close in density to gold). You’ll notice that the hour, minute and second hands are separated; it isn’t so obvious that the second hand has 78 ticks to the minute, and this is reflected in the markings of the seconds dial. You also can’t see the ruby pallets and bushings, nor the 6 ball-bearings. It ought to keep superlative time.
By the way, the convex mirror to the right of the clock is made with a compressor disc which comes from a Turbo-Union RB199-34R Mk 103 turbofan engine. This was the engine that powered the Tornado aircraft when it was in service with the RAF.
