It seems very common for people to abuse their positions. We saw it in government, where our elected representatives ignored the rules they had imposed during the pandemic. We’ve seen the incredible unfolding of the Epstein scandal. So, how is it that some people see themselves as being above reproach? Do they really believe that they are justified in their actions? I do think that arrogance is a terrible root cause, as is greed (and probably the rest of the 7 deadly sins), but I suspect that a sense of entitlement is central.
